As part of my Spring Reset this year, I’m really focusing on cleansing my spaces and being intentional in their use. This is from the physical acts of cleaning and decluttering but also cleansing the vibrational energy. The rooms in my house are parts of my home- and my body is also home for my soul- so as well as cleansing the rooms within my home, I’m also focusing on myself- cleansing stagnant energy and releasing the past year and season to fully step into the energies of Spring.

Below you can find out what spiritual cleansing is, as well as some suggestions of how to cleanse your own home and body.

What is Spiritual Cleansing?

Spiritual cleansing is a way to cleanse on an energetic level an object, a space or a person. Just like a house can become dirty physically- energy can become stagnant, creating an ‘off’ feeling in a room- have you ever walked into a room that appears tidy but feels heavy? That is the energy that needs cleansing within the room.

The same applies to your body- you have a physical body but also an energetic body which interacts and intertwines with your physical body. The energetic body can interact with the energy around you and can hold onto it- leaving you feeling heavy, sluggish and unbalanced. Spring, with its fresh and clean energies, is a great time to look at your physical spaces and your energetic body and give them a Spring Clean.

Cleansing The Home.

This is often best done as part of a general clean, or as part of your Spring Clean- the physical cleaning of your home. It may seem a little ‘mundane’ but physically cleaning your home, or your space, will help stir stagnant energy so it’s easier to shift. You can open windows and doors to allow the air to flow through, cleanse an area with herbs and/or oils, use sound or crystal vibrations once the physical cleaning is done. I’m focusing on the intention of each room of my home this year- for example being keenly aware of what my kitchen is used for (some people have this as their social hub, but I don’t in my home) and refreshing the area and making it easier to find the things I’m looking for whilst in there. As one of my cats stays mostly in the kitchen, I don’t burn herbs or oils in the kitchen so my choice here is sound and sunlight. In my sacred space, where neither of the cats (nor my son for the moment) goes, my go to are my own loose incense blends, and crystals. I also have plants around the upstairs of my house- these are also great for helping to balance energies in a room and brings a little of the outdoor energies inside too.

Cleansing The Body.

There are several ways you can cleanse your body- or more specifically your aura field and your energetic body. Crystals, sound baths, herbs, and oils are all great ways to cleanse your energetic body. If I’m pushed for time, I’ll grab a quick shower to have a wash as well as imagining sluggish energy being washed away. If I’m feeling sluggish from being couped up and the room I’m in feels stagnant around me- I’ll head outside for a walk with my son and breathe the air in. Every so often, I head to the ocean to blow away the cobwebs and breathe in the salty sea air.

If you want to create a bit more of a ritual around this, you could draw yourself a bath, using your favourite oils (remember carrier oils too), scents, candles, music, crystals or whatever you want to use and set some time aside to cleanse your physical body whilst allowing your energetic body to harness the metaphysical properites of the things that you’re using. Essential oils that are good for this are lemon, cypress, peppermint and lavender.
