This cycle- the dreamy season of Pisces- I found myself drawn to work with Coventina. Water has always held a sacred place in my life, and I have long felt the strongest connection to the seasons ruled by its presence- Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. Water is the element of emotion, intuition, surrender, and flow- all of which resonate deeply with me.
As I shaped my own Wheel of the Year, I began to wonder- who would call me in this season of transformation and insight? Pisces, after all, is the final sign of the astrological wheel, marking the ending of a cycle before the new beginnings of Aries. It’s a time of deep reflection, liminality, and release.
Who, then, would whisper my name in this sacred threshold between what was and what is yet to come?
It did not take long for me to hear the answer. Coventina.
She called to me through the sacred flow of water- from the still, glassy surface of my garden pond to the gentle rain nourishing the land. This year, water has moved differently through my life. Last year, my garden was flooded, a moat forming around my summer house, demanding surrender. This year, the water is still. Resting. Reflecting. It’s an invitation to pause, to look beneath the surface, and to listen.
Coventina is a Romano-British water Goddess, associated with sacred wells, springs, healing waters, and deep wisdom. She was honoured in Roman Britain, with Coventina’s Well in Northumberland serving as a site of offerings, devotion, and purification. Coins, votive objects, and small sculptures were gifted to her waters, seeking her blessings of renewal, healing, and insight.
But Coventina is more than a Goddess of wells. She is a keeper of thresholds, a guardian of what lies beneath- within the water and within ourselves. She speaks through reflection and stillness, through the rippling currents of change, and through the wisdom carried in deep waters.
As I worked with her, I found that Coventina’s presence is woven through three sacred themes:
Purification & Release
Water is a cleansing force- physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In this liminal time, we prepare for the Spring Equinox, shedding what no longer serves us. Coventina, as a Goddess of wells and flowing waters, invites us to let go, to cleanse, to surrender. Reflect on what you need to release before Spring’s arrival- what parts of yourself long to be washed clean?
Inner Wisdom & Propechy
Though Spring is near, we are still within Winter’s embrace. The first stirrings of life have begun since Imbolc, but the land still sleeps in places unseen. Coventina’s wells are portals to hidden knowledge and sacred insight. They remind us that wisdom is not found in rushing ahead- but in pausing to listen, to see what the still waters reveal. Reflect on what wisdom is waiting for you in this pause- where can you deepen your intuition, trust, and inner knowing?
Renewal & Flow
Pisces is the final sign in the astrological cycle, held between what has been and what is about to begin. It’s not quite Winter and not quite Spring. Coventina embodies this liminal space- teaching that we must honour the natural flow of time. Reflect on where in your life you are forcing movement instead of surrendering to the flow- how can you embrace the sacred rhythm of patience, trust, and divine timing?

Coventina- Reflections of a Priestess.
This is the first year I have truly worked with Coventina. Though I read her name in books about Roman and Celtic Britain, she had never called to me before. But now, her presence in my spiritual practice is undeniable.
Her wisdom is as deep as the wells she holds sacred. She carries the essence of the womb- dark, nourishing, life-giving. Her wells are vessels of creation, much like the womb of the Great Mother within Goddess Spirituality. Inside this sacred space, her energy envelops me, fills me, replenishes me- offering renewal in the pause before Spring.
She teaches patience. She teaches surrender. She teaches trust in divine timing.
I have been eager to begin this new cycle- with ideas, projects and plans for my home, personal growth, and Lunar Cove. I have felt the pull to move, to build, to create.
But Coventina whispered to me: “Not yet.”
She called me to a sacred pause. She reminded me that everything has its own timing- that we cannot force what is meant to unfold naturally.
“Surrender,” she told me. “Surrender your control. Flow like the water.” It’s wisdom I’ve heard before- from more than one Goddess, in more than one season. And yet, each time I hear it, I surrender just a little deeper.

Practical Ways to Work with Coventina.
I’ve been designing my own rituals to the Goddesses I work with. While I keep my personal rites private, I will share simple ways to connect with Coventina in your own practice.
- Offerings to Coventina
She is honoured with fresh water, blue or turquoise stones, coins, and seashells. Place them upon an altar, or offer them to a well, spring, or flowing water source. - Listen to Her Wisdom
Coventina called me to surrender and trust. Where in your life can you stop resisting and allow things to unfold naturally? What areas of your life need less control and more flow? - Use Water with Intention
Water is sacred. Whether drinking, bathing, or cleansing your space, bring mindfulness into each act. Imagine the water washing away stagnant energy, renewing your spirit, flowing with divine wisdom. - Honour Sacred Spaces
Visit a well, spring, or body of water in Her name. Leave an offering. Say a prayer. Reflect. Let the water speak to you.

Living in the Flow.
Coventina’s season has been one of deep listening, quiet wisdom, and sacred pause. In the still waters, I have seen reflections of myself, my path, and the truths waiting to be heard.
Water teaches us that life is movement, but also stillness.
That healing is cleansing, but also surrender.
That renewal comes not from forcing change, but from allowing it to unfold.
As the season shifts and the waters of Spring begin to stir, I carry Coventina’s wisdom with me. May we all remember to pause, to trust, and to flow.
